What is included in a Special Event Insurance Policy?

The Special Events policy covers General Liability. This provides protection for situations in which a host of an event or a concessionaire must defend themselves against a law-suit or against having to pay damages for bodily injury or property damage to third parties. At events where alcohol is served, the policy should also include a Host Liquor Liability component.

Details on general liability coverage include:

Up to $10,000,000 Liability Limits
Tenants Legal Liability – designed to cover damage the property that you have leased or rented
Medical Expenses – without accepting negligence the policy will provide medical expenses only to an injured party
Non-owned Auto – is coverage for a vehicle that is owned by an individual other than the company, but is used on a company’s behalf.
Host Liquor Liability
Property and Crime Coverage are also available
Volunteers are Additional Insureds – provides protection to the venue and sponsors of the event. Commonly, facilities and venues require that all parties using the site name them as an additional insured on a general liability policy

Event cancellation coverage is an important element to prevent financial hardship in case of the event’s cancellation. This coverage can also be particularly useful when the event is not entirely canceled as even certain expenditures due to unforeseen circumstances may be covered. These circumstances can include things such as catastrophic weather and other unpredictable circumstances. The coverage may include financial reimbursement to the insured for deposits and other charges paid or contracted to be paid for transport, catering services, accommodation, photographs, flowers or dress hire booked for but not used and other non-refundable cancellation expenses incurred. If you’re not sure whether your Special Events Insurance contains this coverage, do not hesitate to contact us. Our online product does not have the event cancellation coverage, but if you would like to have the option to be included, please contact us.

What types of losses are covered under this policy?

This policy covers financial loss due to legal liability from claims made by third parties resulting from bodily injury, property damage or advertising injury caused by an insured’s negligence at the event site. It also offers coverage for loss due to cancellation of the event and/or non-appearance of key personnel (e.g., speakers) due to illness or accident.
